Ajam Analyses

Ajam, which resembles the Western Major scale, has two distinct versions. See the discussion of those versions on the Ajam Pathways page. The second version presented here, known as "Ajam Ushayran" has all but disappeared as a primary maqam, but its functionality remains as a prominent secondary pathway within Maqam Bayati (See Bayati Pathways page). It doesn't make sense to present a network here, combining both versions of Maqam Ajam, because their areas of secondary emphasis are somewhat incompatible.
