Mihtaar Ya Naas

A phenomenal melody and a phenomenally virtuosic performance in 1931 by an Umm Kulthum who had fully reached her maturity, and was soon to embark on the second phase of her career (the film period of the mid-30's to late 40's). Used here to illustrate an older Bayati Shuri pathway, in which the 7th scale degree is tonicized with Nahawand.
