Lower Octave Rast Performances

These two performances start in the lower octave of Rast, passing step-by-step up through the Maqam, eventually reaching Jins Hijaz on 5 as well as the upper octave of Rast. Both performances are extremely similar, and it is no wonder, since Abul-3ila Mohamed was one of Umm Kulthum's primary early teachers and composers. Contrast the feeling of the Maqam, and the sentences used, with the mid-register and high-register versions of rast shown in the other sections.
