Also known in Egypt as "Girkah." Since this site doesn't have any examples of full songs in Maqam Jiharkah, all of the examples here of Jins Jiharkah are as a secondary Jins. The typical location within Maqam Rast is as a substitute at the Octave (though not at the lower octave root). The examples below have Jiharkah adjacent to Rast, so you can make an easy comparison; the third scale degree is just barely higher than Rast, but not quite high enough to be Ajam; the fourth scale degree is slightly lowered; the 7th scale degree, one step underneath the Jiharkah tonic, is the same interval as the "quarter-tone" leading tone to Rast.
